Description THE B-6 SHEEPSKIN JACKET The B-6 sheepskin jacket, crafted from 7 mm sheep shearling, was designed to bridge the gap between the lightweight A-2 jacket and the heavier B-3 sheepskin jackets. Ideal for fighter pilots, its less bulky design made it perfect for the confined spaces of cockpit environments. Categorized as ‘Intermediate Zone’ flight clothing, the B-6 flight jacket emerged just before World War II, a time when most fighter aircraft lacked proper heating facilities. The B-6 flight jacket features a unique cut with a slightly longer torso and a flared lower section. Zippers at the hips allow for adjusting the fit—drawn in while standing and relaxed while sitting. The bi-swing back and two front slash pockets further enhance its functionality and thoughtful design. This B-6 sheepskin jacket is a reproduction of an original from “AERO LEATHER CLO.CO.INC,” contract 42-5110-P.
